It's that time of year again — CFP licence renewal. We are diligently working to have our online renewal available next week. Watch for our E-Special e-mail with a direct link to the online renewal. Renewal packages will go out by mail about the middle of February. If you plan on renewing online, do so before then to avoid also getting a package in the mail. It will also help us avoid unnecessary printing and mailing costs. If you do register online but also receive a renewal package, disregard it.

"Informative and empowering." That is how CFUN Program Director Stu Ferguson described the current series of talk shows running at his station. The series of phone-in talk shows sponsored by FPSC and featuring CFP professionals are running on radio stations in Vancouver (CFUN), Ottawa (CFRA) and Toronto (MOJO). Through the magic of the Internet, you can listen in no matter where in the world you are. Access the radio shows through a portal on the FPSC website.

And for those of you who do live in one of these three cities, keep your eye on local buses. As part of the marketing campaign, the exterior of some buses will display advertising directing consumers to listen in.

Tuesday January 27, CBC's Marketplace will feature FPSC Chair Garry Duncan in conversation with Wendy Mesley. Mr. Duncan is there to talk about his book, Canadians Resident Abroad, and we thought you might like to tune in. Check local listings for the broadcast time in your area.

Due to a technical problem with our Internet Service Provider, events listed on our online Consumer Event & Seminar Calendar for January and February 2004 have disappeared. We are now putting procedures in place to ensure this doesn't happen again. For those of you who submitted events, we apologize for this and ask that you resubmit your event.

With the help of your CFP colleagues, FPSC has a created a financial planning tool kit to teach secondary school students about the basics of financial planning and prepare them for the financial responsibility of post-secondary education. The tool kit is available electronically in PDF format at www.cfp-ca.org/public/public_educatingyouth.asp#toolkit.

FPSC is looking for CFP volunteers to use its new financial planning tool kit to introduce the basic concepts of financial planning to grade 11 and 12 students. If you are interested in educating youth or have contacts at your local secondary school, please contact Merina Hilton, PR Coordinator, by e-mail at rhilton@cfp-ca.org.
