FPSC's New website went live on April 1. And thanks to many of you, we've managed to work through the programming oversights and errors. There's still more to do though, and we'll forever improve the site. So visit often, particularly those sections we change regularly like Help Us Help You, FPSC Comments and Licensee Q&As. Also, look for your guide to the new site coming in the mail soon.

Submissions to the Find a Planner database continue, but the current number of profiles submitted fall far short of the number we had on the old website. Remember, the CFP Professionals in Good Standing searches our entire CFP professional database, but Find a Planner only searches the profiles CFP professionals have submitted online.

The website DVD player contest draw is May 15. Your clients have only a few days left to submit their entry by visiting FPSC's website and locating the entry form. When your client submits the filled-out form and gets someone they know to do the same, both become eligible for our draw. Tell your clients they must refer other people to the site to be eligible - the more people they refer, the better their chances of winning.

The Financial Planning Association's Annual Convention, Success Forum 2002, will be held from September 28 - October 1, 2002 in New Orleans. FPA is a very strong supporter of the CFP designation worldwide. To prove it, they've extended to you, a special offer of member-rate registration that translates into a $275US savings.

The latest software review by Kurt Rosentreter, CFP, CA is now available on the CFP Bulletin Board page in the For CFP Professionals section of our website.

Do you have to be a member of an organization like CAIFA or CAFP to hold the CFP? No. As we have for other frequently asked questions, we've responded in greater detail in the Licensee Q&A section of our website.

The Independent Financial Brokers of Canada (IFBC) Spring Education Summit will be held on May 13-14. And the CAFP Convention is taking place in Edmonton on May 22-25. We are still looking for help staffing the booth in Edmonton so if you can help out, contact Hilton.

The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. is seeking submissions for its 2002 Article Awards in recognition of meritorious financial planning articles published in academic, professional and trade periodicals. Judges make a blind review of submitted articles and offer up to five annual awards of $1,000 in each of three categories: consumer periodicals, trade and professional periodicals and journals, and academic journals. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2002. To be eligible for this year's awards, articles must have been published in print media from Jan. 1, 2001, through June 30, 2002. Only magazine and journal articles are eligible. Canadian CFP professional, Jim Otar, was one of the winners last year for a series of articles he wrote. Visit http://www.cfp-board.org/articlecriteria.html for further information and submission criteria or contact Kathryn Ioannides, Director, Education and Examinations, at kioannides@CFP-Board.org.
