All individuals who have earned CFP certification must renew their licence to
use the CFP certification marks annually. Annual post-certification licensing
requirments include 30 hours of continuing education and adherence to the Financial
Planners Standards Council Code
of Ethics.
All events or series of events that give rise to allegations of misconduct against CFP professionals are investigated and, if found to contravene the code, constitute grounds for discipline, which may include a reprimand, temporary suspension, or permanent revocation of the licence.
Individuals wishing a review of specific concerns regarding the professional behaviour of a CFP professional are requested to send a written letter explaining their concerns to the Director, Ethics at:

The FPSC Code of Ethics is founded upon the following
seven principles. These principles recognize the individual
CFP professional's responsibilities to the public, clients, colleagues,
employers, and to the profession. They apply to all CFP professionals
and provide guidance to them in the performance of their professional
services.
Principle 1: Integrity A CFP professional shall offer and provide professional
services with integrity.
Principle 2: Objectivity
A CFP professional shall be objective in providing professional
services to clients.
Principle 3: Competence
A CFP professional shall provide services to clients competently
and maintain the necessary knowledge and skill to continue
to do so in those areas in which the CFP professional is engaged.
Principle 4: Fairness
A CFP professional shall perform professional services in a manner
that is fair and reasonable to clients, principals, partners,
and employers and shall disclose conflict(s) of interest in
providing such services.
Principle 5: Confidentiality
A CFP professional shall maintain confidentiality of all client
information.
Principle 6: Professionalism
A CFP professional's conduct in all matters shall reflect credit
upon the profession.
Principle 7: Diligence A CFP professional shall act diligently in providing
professional services.
CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and are certification marks owned outside the U.S. by Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB). Financial Planners Standards Council is the marks licensing authority for the CFP marks in Canada, through agreement with FPSB.
